Upper Missinaibi Whitewater (Canada)
Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters Logo

Skill Level: Beg. - Inter.

Departs: Jun, Jul, Aug,

Cost: $1625 CDN

Length: 8 Days

Canoeing - Upper Missinaibi Whitewater - ONImagine..running 40 sets of rapids, portaging fewer than 10 times, and camping every night beside the roar of cascading falls and rapids. Few rivers can match the power, beauty and history of the Upper Missinaibi. Recenly featured in a CBC television documentary and an Outpost Magazine article, on the fur trader era, the Missinaibi River rushes 350 miles North from it's source at Missinaibi Lake to James Bay, over Precambrian granite, through string bogs and marshes, and all within a Provincial Park. Our guided trip catches the river near the headwaters, and for 100 miles of river, we drop 300'. Although the pace is relaxed enough to allow a full day of whitewater instruction, the trip is still demanding. At the end of a day of running rapids, nothing is more welcome than a hearty Missinaibi Headwaters feast prepared for you by your guide. Truly, the best way to experience one of the world's great rivers.

Up North Adventures Ltd. Logo

Skill Level: Experienced

Departs: Jul, Aug, Sep,

Cost: $2,350

Length: 15 days

Canoeing - Big Salmon River - YKStep out of your busy world into the exciting waters of the Big Salmon River. Snow capped mountains surround you as your canoe glides through the pristine water. Starting at Quiet Lake in the beautiful South Canol region of the Yukon, you will admire the vast wilderness surrounding you. A favourite past time after a day of paddling is casting your hook for "the big catch" of Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Arctic Grayling. The Big Salmon offers great challenges for the intermediate paddler in the form of log jams, sweepers, tight corners and large standing waves. The current is moderate but offers many surprises as it twists and turns Northwest towards the Yukon River. An exhilarating paddle beneath the "midnight sun".

Departs: Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct,

Length: 1 Day

Kayaking / Canoeing - Dodge Falls to Newbury, CT River - NHThe Ct. River from Monroe, NH down to Newbury, VT is by far the most scenic section on the entire river. It is distinctly northern with rock cliffs, islands, bends, curves, marshes, and sandy beaches. There is almost zero motorboat traffic as its character simply does not permit it. The wildlife sightings are deer, beaver, moose, otter, bald eagle, osprey, a variety of waterfowl and smaller birds. The fishing is excellent: northern pike, small mouth bass, walleye, brown and rainbow trout. There are numerous trip options on this section of the river ranging in length from 1 hour to an entire day. Multi-day excursions are also available.
