MisAdventures - Anaconda Encounter!
People can usually tell when they're being told a fish story. But this month's MisAdventures is a grand "snake story." Read about our fearless paddler as he encounters one of nature's serpentine creatures and lives to tell (and embellish) about the entire experience.

Food Column - Sunny Salsa
Salsa is a refreshing dish that goes hand in hand with the sunny summer months. It is perfect to give any meat, poultry, fish or vegetarian dish a zest of originality and a burst of flavor. Our food columnist Anne L. Desjardins explains how to make good salsa with seasonal ingredients, even in the outdoors.

In The Same Boat
Summer is a delightful time of year to be afloat. Inland and costal waters resound with the chorus of new life. Swans trumpet. Geese honk. Bitterns boom. Loons yodel. Frogs call. But pools of silence remain, and there's newly awakened life in those places, too. In "The Courage of Turtles," this week's In the Same Boat, Tamia celebrates the lives of some of her favorite creatures.

Trips Directory Spotlight
Yasawas Desert Island Dreaming (Fiji)
by Southern Sea Ventures
Join Southern Sea Ventures on this spectacular trip in the Northern Yasawas, an unspoiled island chain in friendly Fiji. Our base on Tavewa Island is located in the stunning Blue Lagoon, famous for its clear blue waters and tropical beaches. Using our kayaks to transport our gear, we paddle a loop between four of the islands in the archipelago. We spend 2 nights as guests in a traditional village and camp for one night on an uninhabited island. We paddle an average of 3 to 4 hours per day, giving ample time for snorkeling amongst exquisite coral reefs and relaxing on palm fringed white sandy beaches. Trips operate between May and October with special family dates and private group departures available.

Product Review Spotlight
Standard canoe by Grumman
I have overloaded the Grumman shamefully on duck hunts and dragged it into spots not fit for man or beast. A nice coat of Dead Grass Green, a layer of khaki duct tape along the gunwales to prevent gun scratches is all I’ve done to mine. I cannot say enough positive about Grumman canoes and the abuse they can take. A true American made gem.... Rating: 10 of 10 by B. Chambers.
