In The Same Boat
The days are now about as short as they ever get in Canoe Country, and the nights are long and cold. It's the time of year when a fire in the hearth is really welcome. It's also a good time to plan for the day when General Winter finally loosens his grip on the rivers and lakes. Maybe that's why Tamia's recent article on "storm kettles" drew so much mail. To find out what folks had to say, be sure to check out this week's In the Same Boat. After all, it's "Our Readers Write." You wouldn't want to miss out, would you?

Trips Directory Spotlight
Outfitter Photo Kickapoo River Trip (WI)
by Fred Flasher's Canoe Camping Trips
The Kickapoo is a small, swift running, clean strean in SW Wisconsin. It flows through the driftless area and Wildcat Mountain State Park. It's perhaps one of the most scenic rivers in the State with high sandstone cliffs capped with native cedar and hemlock. Drawback, the Kickapoo is a recessed bank type of river. The camping areas are best around bends and require "chaining" up your gear and my cooking equipment. That is difficult but I want to be honest with you. Once up on the bank the sites are remote and beautiful. Just be prepared to do some work.

Product Review Spotlight
Aerius Expedition II by Klepper Folding Kayaks
We had bought the Klepper Aerius II (expedition) in 1997 when we were just married and before we had a home to live in. 40 years previously, I had paddled the same model with confidence the Bristol Channel and down the Rhone to the Mediterranean... The folding Klepper gives a good return on the initial high investment, unlike the small yacht we recently sold... Rating: 10 of 10 by Charlie
