Not much to add to the below reviews. Very fast canoe, tracks straight, probably more stable than the Sawyer Summersong and the two are close in speed. Please don't compare it to the Wenonah Voyager, which is fast but terrible in wind when NOT loaded.

The Shockwave actually came many years before the We-no-nah Advantage. It is nicer than the DY-Special because it's fuller stern does not squat in the shallows. It is too bad that they are so hard to find anymore. The Shockwave was my favorite boat until yesterday (I fell in love with a We-no-nah Voyager), but if you ever have a chance to grab a Shockwave, do so! You will not regret owning this boat.

The shockwave was originally designed as a cruiser class race boat after the DY special/Wenonah Advantage designs. It makes a great recreational canoe for spirited paddling or fishing, and is also good for light tripping. Initial stability is quite good, and secondary stability is excellent. The dead flat keel makes it track straight (and don't you spend most of your time going straight ?), and it responds better to a lean than the DY special. The Sawyer seat design is a wonderfull device, and is good reason to select their canoes over the other brand alone. It allows you to set height (that is, you can lower the seat to greatly improve stability for fishing), and it has a wide range of movement front to back so it is easy to trim the canoe even in high winds. The freeboard is nice and low so you won't get blown around anywhere near as much as you do in most canoes, but moderate waves might come right over the bow (not really a big deal, but a bit disconcerting the first time it happens). This isn't a boat for rough waters but makes a great all round boat that won't get blown all over the place.
