I've had a Clipper Canoe for over 20 years now - and loved it. It's responsive, tracks well, seems to enjoy the waves and water as much as I do.

The Expedition is a Y-back canoe that serves admirably as both a freighter and multi-dimensional canoe capable of being paddled (fair), rowed (good), motored (excellent) and sailed (still learning). Because of it's substantial beam (39"), depth (15") and fullness throughout, it's extremely buoyant and NEVER takes on water in seas of less than 3 feet. It's soft chines and flattish bottom make it a natural for rivers ... both shallow riffles and large standing waves are accomodated without trauma. It's build quality is excellent ... extremely strong and durable hull (mine is a fiberglass/vinylester layup). All this robust character comes with a weighty penalty however and so I attach a set of wheels to the square stern for rolling it to and from the water ... I'm not strong enough to handle it alone. If you need a huge, versatile canoe you can count on ... this is the one. PS ... adapt it for rowing and it's speed and manuevering will be more than adequate ... quite good in fact.
