I have borrowed a friends Alumacraft Quetico (light Aluminum model) for a number of trips to the BWCA and have also taken an older, heavier Gruman. The Quetico is a lot faster and lighter (64 lb vs 74lb). It was about as stable.

I've used this canoe for the BWCAW and it's worked well. Tracks well and is nice to paddle. Could be a little lighter (74lbs.).
