We (67 yo couple) have owned The Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable kayak for four years. Honestly, it is the best value and most used toy I have ever owned, and there have been a lot of them!

When the engine seized on our Catalina 30 sailboat we sold it on eBay for what we had in it and purchased the kayak. We have never looked back. It requires no maintenance, no fossil fuel, no smoke, no noise, no insurance, no mooring fees, and there is no separation from the water or wildlife while getting great exercise. All good!

We took it with us in our Subaru Outback roof box up the Northwest Coast all the way to Desolation Sound in British Columbia. There we enjoyed foraging for oysters, and swimming with seals. We also took it on the ocean side to The Copeland Islands National Park with superb photogenic rock gardens and explored rivers along the coast of southern Oregon. We used it a lot on Vancouver Island on inland lakes and also out to Tofino on the Pacific Rim.

In the winter, we pack it in the trunk of our little Buick Regal and take it to the Costalegre on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Two or three times per week we enjoy paddling out early in the upwind direction on Tenacatita Bay for 3 or 4 miles, snorkeling in the rock gardens or reefs, shell hunting on secluded beaches, exploring sea caves, trolling for fish, and having a floating picnic and siesta as we float back downwind 2 hours across the bay into town. We have also explored estuaries and all of Baja California including the fabulous living reef at Cabo Pulmo on the Sea of Cortez.

The Lagoon 2 is secure in the surf and ocean. I use the velcro paddle holder straps for securing my fishing rod while trolling. It is light weight (35 lb.), packs small, is easy to inflate in 5 minutes, and gets us two old fogies out on the water easily and a lot. It is easy to slide over the bow or stern to get off and on in order to go swimming or snorkeling. Sometimes we both snorkel and tie a tether line on the bow to swim and tow the kayak. Locally, we take it on the Rocky Mountain lakes near the Continental Divide for a refreshing paddle and always come back to camp with fresh brown trout to feed the family. Tomorrow, we're going to float down the Rio Grande Canyon between Taos and Santa Fe just to cool off.

This inflatable has proved to be durable and reliable and the best sports investment I have ever made!

As a starter kayak for two, it's a nice little boat. Although a bit slow in the water, with the backbone, it's sturdier and faster. This is a nice boat if I go camping with other families--it's popular for the couples to try as well as one parent with one child.
