I have a 14' Chief that was passed to me after my father died. It's well over 20 years old...and still going strong. It's been beaten, battered and slammed on nearly every river in Florida. And now a thrid generation of my family is enjoying it. I've had no problems with it flexing or creaking or anything. It's a nice stable boat.

I purchased the 14' (forgot the name) and think for the money the boat kicks. The only complaint I have is when you have two people in it, the bottom flexes like crazy. I have done some fiberglass work to help with this along with building my own wood seats and thwarts to tighten the boat up a bit and add a little confidence in strength and stability. All in all, I am very pleased with it, especially for the money.

I purchased this canoe for its short, wide size and light weight at 55 lbs. Like the other reviewer said, at half the price of the Old Town Stillwater 12 but is not the quality of it either. If you need a smaller two man canoe for not alot of money this model can't be beat. Only problem you'll have is finding a dealer near you, this company is out of Florida.

The Chief Brave 12' canoe, made of fiberglass, is a very stable and duarable boat at and affordable price. In fact the price is almost half of the 12' Old Town Still water- and after trying both under considerable conditions I would surely choose the less exspensive Chief as it certaintly the more stable and durable of the two.
